The Hockey Club was founded in 1923 by former pupils of Ardrossan Academy. Along with Ardrossan Rugby and Cricket Clubs, a clubhouse was established at Memorial Field opposite the Academy.
Ardrossan Hockey Club is currently represented by one team playing in Division 2 of The West District League in Scotland. Previously we have managed to run two teams, however this is something we would like to be able to achieve again in the future.
All home games are now being played at St Matthews Academy, Saltcoats, on an all weather synthetic pitch. Prior to this we played home games on our two grass pitches at Memorial Field. The change to play on the synthetic pitch was to allow the club to develop in line with the progression of the sport.
In recent seasons we have managed to finish in the top half of the table and reached the West District Plate final in season 2009-10. For season 2011-12 we aim to be pushing for promotion into West District Division 1.
Training sessions are on a Wednesday night at St Matthews Academy in Saltcoats, and League and Cup games are played on a Saturday. New members are always welcome along to training and to join the Club.

Tara Mair
Attended Mini Hockey sessions and progressed to playing for the full team in 1996-97. Has been Match Secretary for past 3 seasons and has been Vice-Captain from 2009 until 2011. Normally plays on the left of defence, but also can play at sweeper. Can sometimes be found putting in a shift at Striker when required!
Christine “Howzer” Howie (Vice-Captain)
Joined the team during season 2007-08. Has also been club secretary. Plays in Mid-field, usually on the Left but can also play at Centre.
Donna Rodgers (President)
First played for the club in Season 1986-87 and is still playing 25 years later! Donna has been Match Secretary and is a former Captain and is also a “retired” umpire. She plays in Defence at Sweeper.
Jenna “Mezzer” Gossman (Vice-President)
Played Mini Hockey and moved up to Ladies Hockey team at age 14. After a break to concentrate on other commitments returned to play in season 2006-07. After holding the Vice-Captain position for season 2007-08, Jenna took on Captains position and took the team to the West District Plate Final. Plays in mid-field, originally on the right, but has now moved to centre. Can also be found covering in defence or at sweeper!
Charlene “Nana” Jenkins (Treasurer)
Charlene joined the club in 1997 and has participated in a Hockey Leaders Coaching Course and is trained as a Level 1 Coach. She is a previous club Captain and has also been secretary. Normally plays as a Left Striker, but can also play in mid-field or defence.
Laura McMenemy
Played in the Mini Hockey section and in the Ladies team until 1999. She then returned after University in 2005 and since then has been Vice-Captain and Captain. Laura is our “jack of all trades” and will play in any position on the pitch, hopefully this season she will be mainly playing in defence!
Gillian Evans
Started playing for Ardrossan in 1985 and is still here! Gill has held many positions on the committee including; Match Secretary, Umpire secretary and President. Normally plays as a Forward but can play in Mid-field if needed.
Carolyn “Linny” Fisher
Joined the club during season 2009-10 and as a qualified P.E teacher is involved in coaching Hockey to children ranging from P6 to S2. Plays at right mid-field.
Laura Mackie
Laura joined the club through the Mini Hockey club and then joined the Ladies team in 2007. She has previously won Young Player of The Year and is a member of the committee. Normally plays in defence, but can play as Goalkeeper when needed.
Alison Mitchell
Alison joined the Club during season 2010-11 and is the current Junior Committee member.
Caroline “Cazza” Grove
Started playing for Ardrossan in season 1991-92 when she was 13. Has held various committee positions including; secretary, match secretary, treasurer, vice-captain, captain and vice-president. A versatile player, who is able to play anywhere on the pitch.
Deborah Grove
“Debz” is also a product of our successful Mini Hockey section. She has also been a previous Vice-Captain.
Catherine Woodcock
Has played for the team since the late 90s. After a few seasons out, Catherine has returned as Goalkeeper for this season.
Jenna Montgomerie
Started playing for the Ladies team in Season 2007-08. Along with her Mum, Alison, she is responsible for re-starting Mixed Hockey sessions over the summer break. Jenna plays in mid-field.
Lauren “Stevo” Stevenson
Lauren first played for Ardrossan in 2008 and holds a Hockey Leaders Award. She is a natural Mid-fielder but can play as a Striker also.
Tara Mair
Joined the Club in Season 1995-96. Has been a previous Captain and Vice-Captain of the team. Tara plays as a Striker.
